Makoko is hidden in the middle of Lagos mainland and it is one of the most deprived and blighted communities in the state. Residents of Makoko were displaced when the state government served them a 72-hour quit notice. This order led to the forced eviction of about 250,000 people who are mostly Ijaws, Ilajes, and Eguns. Without any arrangements for proper relocation, this people were left vulnerable, with no roof over their heads or means of earning a living.
